FEW THRILLS AT ELLAND ROAD

United Beat Bradford in Cup Semi-Final

KEETLEY'S "HAT-TRICK"

In a match which provided few thrills, but plenty of stoppages for injuries to players - Wilstrop, Suggett, Hart and Keetley being the players concerned - Leeds United defeated Bradford Park Avenue by four goals to two in the semi-final of the West Riding Senior Cup, at Elland Road, last night. It was a game in which the home half backs, Hornby, Hart and Copping, proved a dominating factor, with the result that most of the play was in the Park Avenue team's territory. In the rear the Milburn brothers supported each other so well that it was rare that Potts was seriously troubled, though Bradford's two goals were the result of well-conceived movements. Of the visitors, Ward Dickinson, Parris and Geldard were the players to take the eye, though young Wilstrop did well until an early injury caused his retirement midway through the second half. United took the lead in the first minute, Ward deflected a shot by Hart into his own net. After Leedham had sent against the bar, Leeds went further ahead at the end of half an hour. Hydes, who played a strong game throughout, saw a drive hit the upright, for Keetley to gather the rebound and beat Robertson. Two minutes later the home inside right dribbled close and got the Park Avenue defence in a tangle, Keetley eventually hooking the ball into goal for United's third goal. After Parris had also found the woodwork, the Park Avenue men contributed the best goal of the match, a long pass by Crayston being collected by Parris, who lobbed the ball to Suggett near the interval for the centre forward to beat Potts. Fifteen minutes play in the second half saw Hydes again send against the upright, and as with the home team's second goal, Keetley made good use of the rebound, while in the last minute Geldard completed a solo dribble by putting on his side's second goal.
